
How it All Started
Russ and Sherry Berger opened their first restaurant in December of 1990, Blue Wave Grill & Bar, on Berkeley Street in Boston's South End. The restaurant was a California inspired theme with high ceilings, white walls adorned with vibrant local art, pickled hard wood floors, glass block walls, blue neon accents and sand box tables, truly the first of it's kind in Boston.The menu was eclectic California cuisine, emphasising colorful, flavorful and fresh!Shortly later, the couple opened Moka California Cafe, the first coffee house in the South End. Moka was open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but the main draw was the giant coffee drinks and homemade baked goods.
In 1994, Baja Mexican Cantina was born. A lively 80 seat restaurant in the South End, with fresh and flavorful Mexican cuisine, and over 100 tequila offerings. In 1995, Malta Rotisserie & Grill opened on Hanover Street in Boston's North End. Malta served Mediterranean cuisine in a very stylish and trendy North End setting.
After moving to Upton, Ma in 2006, and loving the daily commute to Boston, the couple sold their Boston restaurants and purchased the Wildwood Lounge in Upton, After five months of heavy duty construction, Russ & Sherry opened Red Rock Grill and Bar on February 14, 2011. Red Rock is a "Rustic Chic " eatery serving delicious inspired comfort food.
